InterContinental San Diego Wedding, St. Therese of Carmel Catholic Church Wedding - Melissa + Chris

A teaser of wedding film (Melissa & Chris) - “Whisper”

Melissa and Chris’s wedding was extra special to me. Not only had I known Melissa from years ago when her best friend Eunice got married in San Francisco (which I haven’t blogged about - shame on me; it’ll eventually happen, though!), but I was also able to work with my lovely team with Brett and our filmmaker Ailin for their candid wedding photography.

A Beautiful San Diego Wedding & Ceremony!

Melissa and Chris - two very shy and smart people who live in NYC, got ready and partied at InterContinental San Diego wedding reception venue, and their ceremony was at St. Therese of Carmel Catholic Church.

Their ceremony and wedding reception in San Diego was filmed and is featured on my website homepage here; please scroll down the page - it’s a 10-minute-long. :-)

One of the things that surprised me was that Melissa was emotional (cried) on her wedding day, as I had been told that she was pretty even-keeled and didn’t show much emotion. And I’m so glad our filmmaker Ailin was able to capture that special moment while Chris was “whispering” to her.

Melissa and Chris met in San Francisco in the summer of 2019. They spent the first few months of their relationship in SF before she moved down to LA during the pandemic. Chris planned to spend 3 months in LA, but ended up spending 9 months in LA as the pandemic went on. He then spent time with his parents in Boston for 3 months before moving back to San Francisco, anticipating return-to-office. Melissa was supposed to follow him back to SF, but because her job had kept postponing returning to (the SF) office, she decided to move to NYC. Now they’re both happily in NYC!

“Christopher is the most patient man I know! The last few years have been anything but predictable, and I'm so lucky he's been by my side during all the unexpected moves,” Melissa said.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico Wedding, Shelby + Perry

San Miguel de Allende in Mexico has a very very special space in my heart. That’s where Brett and I first met working together and where we have traveled to the most, so whenever there’s an opportunity given to me to go back there, I’m certainly SUPER delighted to do so. This time, it was for Shelby and Perry’s wedding.

Beautifully planned and decorated by Penzi Weddings, and assisted by a wonderful photographer Daniel Aguilar, their wedding held at the iconic Rosewood San Miguel de Allende.

Shelby is a teacher while Perry works in finance; she attracts people with her kindness and excellent leadership while Perry is calm, “corky” (according to a wedding guest) and smart and will do just about everything Shelby wants. They love traveling and have seen a lot of the world. She’s born and raised in Midland, TX, and Perry was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. They believe unique cultures are what makes the world go around, and they truly love celebrating everything about life. <3

VALENTINE DTLA WEDDING PHOTOS - AKIKO + SEBASTIAN - LOS ANGELES DOWNTOWN WEDDING

“I knew to expect something special when we hired two former news photographers for ur day - but I’m seriously blown away by their work! Thank you Annie and Brett for documenting this day as only you two can.” - Akiko

Akiko and Sebastian’s wedding at Valentine DTLA was filled with love and celebrations with people who hadn’t been able to see one another since the pandemic started.

Akiko is a TV journalist - sounds familiar? yes, I was a journalist too! hehe, and Sebastian is a DP (director of photography). They met online back in 2015, when they were both living in LA. Akiko didn't have a profile photo set up - so Sebastian took a leap of faith in reaching out. They met up for lunch in downtown first and spent the first 6 months of our relationship in LA. Then, Akiko decided to take a job in Singapore, and they began a near 4 year long, long-distance journey. Sebastian works freelance as a DP, he was able to fly in for several weeks to a month at a time. He also took up some jobs in Southeast Asia so they could be in the same city for longer. After 2.5 years in Singapore, Akiko decided to move to Hong Kong with the same company (the opportunity was just too good to pass up!). So they spent another year of long distance, this time between Hong Kong and LA. The plan was to eventually move back to LA (where Sebastian is based), but when another job opportunity popped up in New York in 2019, he encouraged her to take it. For the last 2+ years, he has been splitting time between LA and New York, where Akiko is currently based.

“Put simply, our relationship has been all about managing different cities and travel, and finding a way to stay in the same city.”
